Do you know why this update did not include the new Canon 6D? The 6D was launched in September, and Canon advised that they have provided the specs to software vendors (not sure when). Between them, Canon and Apple/Aperture have had nearly 3 months to ensure a compatibility update was developed prior to release of the camera!!!

After waiting several months we picked up our new 6D on Saturday (the day they arrived in store) only to find that its RAW files are not supported by Aperture and other 3rd party software….an issue we had no idea about prior! This is extremely dissapointing as my wife will only edit in Aperture with RAW files, and we now have a new camera that is useless to us!!

Any ideas, other than the stupid comments like “be patient” and “use “TIFF” that we received from Canon!

    Cheers, Mark N

I know this is frustrating all right. This is the way I understand it. The 6D was announced in September but has only just begun shipping. Software devs (both Apple and Adobe) usually only use Production models for Raw support as things can change from pre production models. Also, not all camera makers are pro active in supplying models to the software companies, so it can take a bit of time, but now that production models are shipping I’m guessing it won’t be long till there’s another update. Apple have improved their turn around times dramatically recently so hopefully they will include support before too long

Thanks Thomas (apolgies for not replying earlier). Yes, we now have the update…and now have happy wife! Fortunately quicker than for some previous camera models.

Although I appreciate your comments in your first email, it doesn’t change my above referred view that the apptoach of Canon and the software developers is tardy and doesn’t respect the investment and support in Canon given by their customers!

        Cheers, Mark N
